I know, I have taken forever to write my list of happy things of the week but it’s been a tough couple of weeks. As you may or may have not read in Lessons of a Journey, I was finally able to visit my family in Mexico and didn’t have access to internet while I was there. The first thing I wrote about when I returned to Paris was about the trip. I wanted to write more but being back has been tough because, well, I’m unemployed. Having absolutely nothing to do is horrible and it can get pretty lonely when everyone else is at work… also, receiving a bunch of no’s from potential employers hasn’t help either. But no more! I am tired of feeling this way so today when I woke up I decided to do more.
So, without further ado, here are the five things that made me happy this week.
- French classes
One of the things standing between me and a job that I like (and want) is the language. Even if the job does not require French, you still need to know enough to be able to communicate with your coworkers. I have therefore decided to become fluent asap and sign up to classes. Why didn’t I do it earlier? Because I had no time, but that’s not an issue anymore. I will be starting on Monday.
2. School shopping
It is ridiculous how excited I am to buy a notebook and fun pens for class. I am addicted to office supplies.
It’s the holy month of Ramadan and I’ve been able to concentrate on my relationship with God and also my relationship with myself. I’m actually quite lucky that Ramadan and my unemployment period coincided because it has allowed me to concentrate on my spirituality.
My boyfriend and I had date night and watched Conspiracy. If I’m being honest, it’s not really worth paying for. I recommend you wait until it’s out on Netflix because it’s the type of movie entertaining enough to watch at home but not good enough to pay for. Regardless, it was still a very good day and we enjoyed each others company.
On the way back to Mexico I made a brief stop in Madrid and brought some stuff back to Paris. Among those things were my colouring book and colouring pencils. I have actually missed coloring although it’s not always as relaxing as it should be since I’m obsessed with staying within the lines. A bit stressful really…
