My work contract finally ended and I have been filling my time with all the little things I hadn’t been able to do, wether it was due to low energy, no time, or Saturn’s retrograde (yes, I truly believe in all that astrology stuff and that we’re all connected to the cosmos). I have been going to the gym, reading, catching up on tv shows, avoiding all political news involving Trump…just kidding, I can’t ignore them.
Anyways, here are the five things that made me happy this week.
1. Smell of spring
I love the smell of spring as much as I love the smell of rain. Too bad we only had about 2 days of nice weather and now it’s winter again. I had already put all my winter clothes away and I refuse to take them out. I am trying to summon the sun by wearing Spring outfits, if I have to freeze for the greater good then so be it.
2. Picnic day
The moment I saw on the weather channel it would be 25°C on Sunday, (this was one of the two sunny days) I whatsapped Youssef and told him we were going on a picnic . While we were happily drinking from our juice boxes we spotted an elderly couple laying on the grass and drinking wine. We have obviously been doing things wrong and we’ll up our game in the future. After all, the French do have the best wine!
3. Work contract ended
I am sure that by now you can already tell I am very happy that my contract finally ended. After 6 months of monotony I am ready to enter a new period of stress: what do I do now?! But I very much prefer that than the zombie life.
My first week of unemployment fell on Easter and it could not have been more perfect. Three of my closest friends (who don’t know each other) decided to come to Paris for Spring break. I wasn’t sure when exactly I would be able to see them again, so this was definitely a very pleasant surprise.
5. Quality time
Youssef decided to take a week off from work to take motorcycle driving classes. This means he was home every day by 5 pm, so not only did we get to spend quality time together, but he also got to meet my friends.
The only thing that could have made this week better is if I had gotten a puppy, but it’s probably better if I wait until I have a job…
